Welcome to Robinson MCR

Robinson College offers a friendly and welcoming environment for all graduate students, whether they are new to Cambridge or are existing members of the college. There are currently about 180 graduate students in the College, about half of whom are studying for a PhD; the remainder are studying for a wide range of Masters degrees or the Clinical Course in Medicine/Veterinary Medicine.

All graduate students at Robinson are automatically members of the Middle Combination Room (MCR, formally known as the Graduate Society). The day-to-day affairs of the MCR are run by the MCR Committee, who provide representation, entertainment and support to graduate members of the college.

On these pages you can find information about upcoming events, contact details of the current committee, Freshers' week programme, details about college accommodation and other things that may help you during your time here in Cambridge.

As a graduate student at Cambridge, you are automatically a member of two communities: your research group or department, and your College. While your department (hopefully) provides the research or teaching environment you need to be successful in your degree, the College provides pastoral and social infrastructure - not just accommodation and food, but a chance to live within a diverse group of people from all parts of the world, of all disciplines and faculties, and all academic levels of seniority, from fresh-faced undergraduates to seasoned Professors. There are sports teams, music and drama societies, and a lot of chances for interesting chats. Whether you are here for a nine-month Masters degree or a three to four year PhD, that time will pass much quicker than you expect, and you should make sure to get the most out of your time at Robinson.
